Unify for Prosperity - part 4: Symbol

We need symbols

We need symbols to represent ideas. While most people will forget about 90% of what they read in this article what they read does shift opinions they have (if the argument aligns with their worldview).  We need symbols that remind us of ideas; that start a cascade of related ideas. For a symbol to be effective it must in a simple way embody the core essence of the idea.  The core essence of this article is that

Unification leads to success.

This is a simple statement but there are a lot of concepts buried in there.  There is a lot of stuff in unification.  There is a lot that can be said about success.  Unification is the first step to success.  Success can be prosperity, happiness, safety or whatever you choose.  We do not want to fail. Without unification there is no success.

A simple starting point can be taking the first letters of the two key words, U and S.  Put together the letters make the word US that reminds us that the process of unification and the cause are about us.  In the Croatian language, for my Croatian brethren who greatly need some success and prosperity the key concept would be based on the Croatian translation “Ujediniti i Uspjeti” ( we unite and succeed).

While in Croatian the two letters do not provide an opportunity to create a simple word that represents a lot the letters UU do offer an opportunity for a simple graphical representation of the concept.  In the left diagram below the two U letters can stand beside one another but can be even more unified in a graphic design with one U nested inside the other.  The outer U represents unification while the inner U represents success.  Together they look like a shield and  the whole becomes greater than the sum of the parts  giving a sense of safety..

To find the right symbol we need to develop multiple variations and then test them to see which one evokes the most positive response in the people we care about.  The arrow pointing right indicates progress but an arrow pointing upwards also symbolizes progress.

Color can also be added to the symbol.

The color blue is a good color to represent the strength and stability of unification and unity

The color red represents action and passion that are associated with success.

This is also reminiscent of the Croatian flag that has a red stripe on top and a blue stripe on the bottom and white in the middle.   Adding the Croatian checkerboard shield localizes the symbol more but adding too much content can make the symbol too messy.

Or maybe we can use the colors grey (silver, steel) and dark yellow (gold).

Grey represents strength and the sword of defense.
Gold represents the prosperity that results from unity.

How would it look on a hat?

Someone with a better eye for graphic design can do a better job than I can;
 this is just a starting point for more creative brainstorming.
